Brackish water consists of more dissolved solids than fresh water, but has lower salinity than sea water, and usually arises from underground water sources. Dirt in water makes it difficult to use in many applications. For example, brackish water (if not purified) has the potential to damage agriculture, homes, and other applications. The brackish water reverse osmosis system is designed to function more than 200 psi and requires more energy through a larger pressure pump. Brackish water TDS levels usually range between 3,000 to 5,000 ppm. This system is designed to handle pressures higher than freshwater RO.
